In addition to longarm quilting.....
April was MQX East in Manchester NH! If you haven't ever been to an MQX quilt show - you don't know what you are missing! It is great! They used to be centered around longarm quilting only - but have expanded to all forms of quilting. So there is no excuse for you not to go! As usual, I had great instructors and I take a full course load of classes and hands on workshops trying to absorb everything the instructors are there to share! Four of the new instructors I had this show were:Bethanne Nemesh; Margaret Solomon Gunn; Judi Madsen; and Andrea Brokenshire. All of the classes were excellent and I learned something new in each! And of course, I HAD to go to the Ice Cream Social, and the Awards ceremony - where my friend Sue Schoch won a Judge's Choice Award from the head judge, Scott Murkin! Congratulations Sue!
In May, we took a much needed R&R trip to FL. Spent a few days on Fort Myers Beach at the Pink Shell Resort - nice! And then went to the other coast to visit Bob's parents.
In June, we took a trip to Lowell, MA where I attended a three day ANS software training retreat. This is one of the software programs I use to create my own quilting designs - super cool!
In July I made two commissioned memory quilts - tears and hugs from both customers so the quilts came out well!
August 1st, I attended the AQS Syracuse, NY quilt show where I was a semi-finalist - so my quilt "My Celtic Solstice" was juried in and displayed in the show with over 200 other quilts. My customer Eileen Buel was also a semi-finalist with her quilt "Flowers for my Wedding Ring", which you may remember from the QUILT Schenectady show last October. I was quite disappointed to see that AQS does not list the quilter's name nor the quilt info on their hang tags. I am sure that they are trying to save money on printing - but seriously - if the small local shows can display the quilter name and the info about the quilt - so can a big NATIONAL show organization. Maybe we need to start a letter writing campaign! Who is with me on this????
August 2nd, I attended the Patchworkers Quilt show in Windham, NY. Three of my customers had quilts on display: Eileen Buel, Marcia Dougherty, and Jean DeGuira. Eileen's quilt won Viewers Choice First Place - congratulations Eileen! I thought all three would win - of course, I may be slightly biased! Gorgeous quilts ladies - thanks for a great show!
Today I received my box back from AQS - unfortunately - they had someone else's quilt in my box! They put quilt #207 in the box for quilt #209! Grrrr! After two phone calls to AQS, I finally got a hold of Terri Guill who immediately started working on tracking down my quilt. He has since called back that he tracked down Elizabeth (owner of #207) - and she indeed has my quilt. Now he is in the process of getting Fed Ex arranged to pick up the two quilts and make the switch. And unfortunately, my printer is out of commission - so he can't just email the label to me to put on the box as he had intended. The saga continues.....
