I know something you don't know.....

I've been real busy lately - hence the delay in postings - but I know something good is coming, that you won't want to miss.
I just finished quilting a quilt that will be in a book of quilt designs by Kathie Greenwold - our local quilt appraiser!
I only saw this one design, but can't wait to see the rest.

I was sworn to no pictures until the book comes out, soooooo you have to wait a while longer!

The quilt is called Italian Tiles - and the book should be coming out in the next few weeks - so keep an eye out for it!

David Taylor Workshops

David Taylor was in Delmar NY Oct. 10th and 11th teaching workshops and speaking at the QUILT Inc guild meeting. I learned a lot from him! He uses only fabric and thread to create these works of art - no paint or inks on his quilts! It was fascinating to listen to him describe the amount of details that go into each of his quilts. Each piece is HAND APPLIQUED in place.

Here are a few pictures of his works.

Donna Hastings gave a lecture and workshop on paper piecing for the QUILT Schenectady guild on Oct. 3rd and 4th.

Interesting technique - you don't stitch thru the paper.

Here are some pictures of her piecing work (many were quilted by others for her).

Here are a couple pictures from the Sharon Schamber trunk show at QUILT Schenectady. They don't show all of the amazing details that are on the quilts, but trust me - they are there! Breathtaking!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Sharon Schamber hosted a trunk show of her wonderful quilts at the QUILT North meeting last night in Clifton Park. For the two people in the world who don't know of her, Sharon Schamber won a $100,000 Quilt Challenge, as well as the Best of Show Award ($10,000) at the International Quilt Festival in Houston THREE TIMES, and many, many other awards at various quilt shows around the country. She is a Master Quilter and her work is over the top gorgeous! Here are a few pictures from the trunk show.

This picture gives you an idea of the size of the details in Sharon's quilts - that is my finger in this close up shot of The Spirit of Mother Earth (the black and red quilt shown immediately above this photo). Truly amazing!

I attended a longarm machine quilting workshop with Sharon Schamber today at the "At Home Quilting" Innova dealer shop in Johnstown NY! We had a small class of 8 quilting enthusiasts soaking up every word Sharon was sharing with us. Loads of tips - and wonderful conversation. What a great day!

Hi! My name is Laurie Collins. I've been quilting for about 25 years - which means I must have started when I was four since I only admit to being 29! I'm a longarm quilter - trying to make the world prettier one quilt at a time!
